The privacy difference
Hiver — like most Gmail helpdesks — connects through the Gmail API and processes your messages on its servers to provide its features. SupportUtils works as a browser extension inside Gmail's own interface, so the only data that reaches our servers is the ticket metadata your team creates: thread status, assignee, and internal notes. Email bodies, attachments, and subject lines never touch our infrastructure. For teams handling sensitive customer data, that difference is often the deciding factor.
Choose SupportUtils if…
- Your support runs on email and you want to stay in Gmail
- You want simple flat pricing — $12/user/month, every feature included
- Vendor access to email content is a compliance or trust concern
- You need statuses, assignment, notes, and analytics — not workflow automation
Choose Hiver if…
- You need SLA policies, rule-based automations, or CSAT surveys
- Your support spans live chat, WhatsApp, or voice as well as email
- You have a larger team that will use advanced routing and workload rules
